Environmental Impact Assessment

An environmental monitoring programme, within an effective environmental management system (EMS) and/or plan (EMP), should form the basis of pollution control within any organisation with the potential for significant environmental impacts, since it provides a baseline against which environmental performance and the effects of any necessary corrective actions to reduce or minimize environmental impacts may be monitored

.Environmental monitoring is also a key tool for assessing compliance with the Environmental Quality Act (EQA) 1974 and its pertinent Regulations with regard to water pollution, land pollution and air quality. For projects requiring an EIA or EMP, environmental monitoring forms part of the EIA Report approval terms and conditions imposed by DOE or NREB.

The monitoring services provided by ESI to clients include:

  • water quality;
  • groundwater quality;
  • sediment quality;
  • marine biology
  •  noise emissions;
  •  dust emissions;
  • stack emissions;
  • gas emission concentrations;
  • hydrocarbon emissions; and
  • ambient air quality.
ESI has undertaken environmental monitoring for various industry sectors in Sarawak, such as the port, marine, construction
